The Hampton Roads Chamber Players provide a venue for dedicated and talented young string musicians throughout Hampton Roads to study chamber music and showcase their skills in concert performances. Members are given instruction and encouragement by some of the area's most accomplished professional musicians. Our performers have already achieved distinction in regional, all-state orchestras, national orchestras and in music competitions. We fully expect that many of these talented young musicians will go to top conservatories and will enjoy distinguished performing careers.
The Hampton Roads Chamber Players faculty is comprised of members of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, professional musicians from the Hampton Roads area, and guest artists from other regions of the United States.

Many thanks for your interest and economic support, which were a great motivation for my career as a musician as well as on a personal level. Indeed the interaction among four cultures United States, Mexico, Peru and the Dominican Republic allowed us to know different aspects of life with music as a common ground. It was a marvelous experience. During the Traveling Notes Festival 2009 we all lived and shared with each other in a joyful atmosphere.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am very happy to have been given this opportunity. Thanks to your altruism the festival was a real success.

Small Ensembles
We have quartets, quintets, and sextets that regularly perform in public concerts, private parties, and corporate sponsored events. Playing in such small groups allows our young musicians to bring their art to a new and much higher level, developing the expertise and confidence to play as soloists.
Sinfonietta
The sinfonietta, allows our entire complement of musicians to perform together. Typically, this means a dozen violins, six violas, six cellos, and one string bass, although the exact numbers vary from one concert to the next. This form of playing enhances each musician's sensitivities to the complexities of solo opportunities in a group performance. In much the same way as excellent jazz, each musician must be intimately aware of what all the other performers are doing from moment to moment.
The Hampton Roads Chamber Players is a not for profit 501 (c)3 organization. Our extended charitable mission is to support underserved young string musicians of low income families in Hampton Roads with tuition scholarships to allow them the opportunity to participate. All event fees contribute to support the growth and development of youth musicians throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia, and help to support our underserved student scholarship fund.
We have been able to support dozens of young musicians with your contribution! Thank you!
